[General] Semi-detached
Labels: #General, attachment, detachment, emotion, home, moving, nostalgia
I've just moved for the 26th time in my 34 years of life, and I don't miss the place I just left (after 2 years there) at all. A decade ago, I would usually miss a place for a while after leaving it. Now, nothing feels like home. Not even my family home. A lot has changed.

[Technology] Facebook's Keyboard Shortcuts.
I appreciate that Facebook not only has keyboard shortcuts (I've been using j, k, and l for a long time), but that they're actually advertising them. Too often useful keyboard shortcuts are virtually undiscoverable.
I get frustrated a lot when UI simplification reduces discoverability of content and features. E.g. removing menu items or relying on search instead of browse. (it's hard to search for what I don't know exists.)

Good bye Gitorious, hello GitLab
GitLab has gotten a lot of attention due to GNOME switching to it, so I'm going to as well.
For now, I just have some bash scripts to manage Nintendo Switch screenshots hosted there.
Google Assistant
"Sorry, I can't send e-mails yet.
"Hey, Google. Add 'become a samurai' to my To Do list."
"Sorry, To Do List is not yet supported"
"Hey, Google. Send a text to Northrop Frye."
"Sorry, I can't send texts yet."
There's actually a lot Google Assistant on my Google Home Mini can do, but some of the things it can't really hurt.

Facebook Frustrations: Events and Calendars

Events for today showing, but something is missing... |
Losing synchronisation
Except that sometimes some Facebook events won't sync, and other times, Google Calendar entirely loses the iCal record. I usually discover this after the events have passed and people ask where I was.
Difficult to re-synchronise from a phone

Facebook Events' "Upcoming Events" webcal link to an iCal |
Then, in the Google Calendar mobile app, I cannot seem to find an option to add calendars at all, let alone by webcal URL. I then have to go to the Desktop version of the website, and again zoom around to click until I can find the add by link option, and paste it in.

Hail Hydra

I was so thrilled to discover that there's an actual creature called a hydra, and it has some neat eating behaviour.

The Frames
It's harder to listen to this band than it used to, but when they randomly come on, I'm still quite fulfilled.
